Lakatos Klára

Born in Csenger in 1968, she spent her childhood in Tyukod. After starting a vocational school in 1982 she continued her studies at the Szabó Ervin Secondary School of Budapest and graduated as a cultural manager at the University of Pécs. She started drawing at this time. The creations of Károly Bari, Magda Szécsi and Károly Pongor Béri (David Berry) had a great impression on her. Her first works, dated 1996, were black pen drawings of trees, inspired by Zsolt Csanya's poetry, signed as Lakatos R. Klára. Her works were exhibited numerous times, including Roma Parliament's Balázs János Gallery in 2001. In the same year her illustrations were published in "Élet és Irodalom" weekly journal, later she illustrated Zsolt Csanya's "Diary experiment" and her own children's book. In 2007, at the Athe Sam Roma Arts Festival she held an exhibition entitled "Visual Beings" together with the Sunflower children group lead by her. Roma periodicals Amaro Drom, Kethano Drom, Lungo Drom have been continuously publishing her work, in 2009 she appeared in the "Igaz szó" magazine. Currently she is the head of Napénekéj Artist Group and she is leading artistic activities for children.
