Klára R. Lakatos: Mandalas of Szatmár

Klára Lakatos was born in Csenger in 1968. She spends her childhood in Tyukod. In 1982 she continues to study in a trade vocational training school in Budapest. Then she graduates at the Szabó Ervin Secondary School of Budapest and gets her cultural management diploma at University of Pécs. She starts drawing at this time. The creations of Károly Bari, Magda Szécsi and Károly Pongor Béri (David Berry) makes a big impression on her. She makes black pen drawings about trees in 1996 as Klára R. Lakatos which were inspired by Zsolt Csanya's poetry. Numerous exhibitions were opened from her works. She was introduced in the Balázs János gallery of the Romany Parliament in 2001 and her works are presented in the Élet és Irodalom journal in the same year. Her works of poetry, as well as Zsolt Csanya's "diary experiment", are also illustrated by her works. In 2007, at the Athe Sam Romany Art Festival, she exhibited her „Visual beings” work together with the sunflower child group she led at the group exhibition. The Amaro Drom, Kethano Drom and Lungo Drom Romany periodicals have been constantly published her works and in 2009 she had drawings in the Igaz Szó journal. She had several exhibitions. Currently she is head of the Napénekéj Artistic Group and she conducts art lessons for children.
